Practice Making Choices

Did you know that giving children opportunities to make guided, age-appropriate choices now can help them become more confident and independent later?

Practicing choices together during calm moments gives children time to understand their options, notice what feels supportive, and create familiar paths they can return to when BIG feelings or difficult transitions arise. Your Growth Garden™ is a safe space to explore these choices and plan ahead together.

With The Parallel Journey™ as the guiding principle and The Satori Shift™ as the five-step process for exploring feelings, children and grown-ups learn to Notice, Connect, Listen, Validate, and Choose together.

The goal is not to blindly give children control over every situation or expect them to make difficult decisions while they are overwhelmed. Grown-ups provide guidance, safe boundaries, and age-appropriate options while children take an active role in choosing what feels helpful. This shared practice builds agency, self-trust, communication, and confidence over time.

Explore the articles below for playful and practical ways to create Choose Your Path options, prepare for difficult moments, and practice making choices together.
